The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is Türkiye’s first nuclear power plant currently under construction. It is being built near the town of Büyükeceli, in the Gülnar district of Mersin province. On April 27, 2023, fuel rods were loaded, and the facility was officially designated as a nuclear installation. Electricity generation from the first reactor is expected to begin around 2025.
Once completed, the plant—comprising four power units with a total capacity of 4,800 MW—will meet 10% of Türkiye’s electricity demand.
The components manufactured by Natura Yapı for the facades of the safety-related buildings at the plant include: aluminum windows and curtain wall systems, facade cladding, sunshades (brise-soleil), aluminum louvers, and aluminum copings.
